Journal Editorial Board Regulations
Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of these regulations is to define the composition and operation of the editorial board to ensure the fair and systematic management of academic journals in the field of agriculture. Based on the “Academic Journal Operation Guidelines” of the National Research Foundation of Korea, these regulations aim to promote the fair and efficient editing and publication of academic journals through the proper operation of the editorial board (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”).
Article 2 (Composition)
① The committee shall consist of one editor-in-chief and editorial committee members.
② The editor-in-chief shall be appointed upon recommendation and approval by the academic journal publishing organization, and the term of office shall be two years, but may be extended.
③ The editorial committee members shall be recommended by the editor-in-chief, considering their expertise and academic achievements in the relevant academic field, and appointed by the head of the institution after a resolution by the committee.
④ The number of editorial committee members shall be at least five and no more than twenty, considering the diversity of the academic field and the workload.
⑤ The term of editorial committee members shall be two years and may be extended.
Article 3 (Roles and Responsibilities)
① The editorial committee is responsible for selecting reviewers for submitted manuscripts, managing the review process, making publication decisions, and developing the journal’s editorial and operational strategies.
② The editor-in-chief represents the committee, convenes meetings, and oversees the editing and publication processes.
③ Editorial committee members recommend reviewers, plan special issues, promote the journal, and provide advisory support to enhance academic quality.
Article 4 (Meetings)
① The editorial committee meeting is divided into regular meetings and special meetings, and regular meetings shall be held at least once per quarter.
② Meetings shall be convened by the editor-in-chief, and decisions shall be made with the attendance of a majority of the members and the approval of a majority of those present.
③ In urgent cases, meetings may be conducted via email or online conferencing.
Article 5 (Manuscript Review and Publication Decision)
① The committee shall determine whether to publish submitted manuscripts through a fair and anonymous peer-review process.
② At least two reviewers with expertise in the relevant field, both internal and external, shall be appointed.
③ Review outcomes shall be classified into four categories: “Accept,” “Accept with minor revisions,” “Revise and resubmit,” and “Reject.”
④ If the reviewers’ evaluations differ, a third reviewer may be appointed for an additional review.
⑤ The editor-in-chief shall make the final decision based on the combined review results.
Article 6 (Ethics and Confidentiality)
① Committee members shall maintain fairness and transparency during the review and publication process, and in cases of conflicts of interest, they shall be excluded from the review.
② Committee members shall not disclose information about reviewers or authors and must keep all internal committee matters confidential.
③ Committee members are required to participate in regular training and ethics education in accordance with KCI (Korea Citation Index) guidelines.
Article 7 (Dismissal and Filling of Vacancies)
① The editor-in-chief may dismiss an editorial committee member in the following cases:
When the member seriously damages the reputation or credibility of the journal
When the member repeatedly fails to attend meetings or fulfill editorial duties
In the event of other significant reasons
② In the event of a vacancy, the editor-in-chief may promptly recommend a successor.
Article 8 (Miscellaneous)
① Matters not specified in these regulations shall follow the “Journal Evaluation and Operation Guidelines” of the National Research Foundation of Korea and customary practices.
② These regulations may be amended through a resolution of the editorial committee and the approval of the head of the publishing organization.
